A Sun Prairie Police officer who was killed in a helicopter crash is remembered at a memorial service on Wednesday.

The funeral is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Sun Prairie Cemetery.

The service is free and open to the public.

The Sun Prairie Tribune reports that the Sun Police Officer, who was 37 years old, was killed while on duty in Sun Prairie.

The Tribune reports the crash happened Wednesday morning.

The pilot of the helicopter was taken to a local hospital, and it is unclear whether he is expected to survive.

Sun Prairie is about 65 kilometres south of Calgary.

Police said the helicopter took off from a business park about 11:20 a.k. near the intersection of South and South Main Streets in Sun Country.

The helicopter’s pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sun Country RCMP say they are still investigating the crash.

Sun Canada’s mayor and provincial officials will attend the service.
